ABOUT

I am Ceretta Smith. I’ve dedicated my life to service, grounded in vision, and have fought hard for my constituents, with joy. From serving nearly a decade as a U.S. Army medic to fighting for working families as a federal employee, and national union leader, I’ve always believed leadership means showing up for people, not special interests. For twenty-five years, I stood on the front lines for labor, civil, and human rights because every Georgian deserves dignity, fair pay, and opportunity, no matter their ZIP code. My vision for our future is rooted in that same belief: that government should work for people, not the other way around.

As a city councilmember, I’ve turned those values into action championing our children, and holding local government accountable. My joy comes from empowering others to lead and from helping communities thrive together. With my experience in government, leadership, and caring for people, I understand how policy decisions in Washington impact us, our families, workers, and small businesses here at home, and I’m ready to fight for solutions that put our communities first.

VALUES

These are my guiding values; Vision, Service, and Joy!

VISION

My vision is to secure what Georgia’s 12th District needs now—good jobs, strong schools, and healthy communities—while preparing for the future with investments in new industries, infrastructure, and opportunity for the next generation.

SERVICE

My record of service—as an Army medic, federal labor leader, and Grovetown Councilwoman—shows I deliver for people. In Congress, I will secure resources that matter today, like fair wages and healthcare, while building long-term solutions that keep GA-12 and all citizens thriving.

JOY

I believe our communities need joyful warriors now more than ever—leaders who fight hard but also lift spirits, unite people, and spark hope. I want to bring that every day, to show Georgia that progress can energize us, inspire action, and remind us what we can achieve together.

Ceretta’s Plan for Affordability

Families in GA-12 deserve real economic relief and real opportunities to get ahead.

From groceries to gas to housing, the cost of living keeps rising — but paychecks aren’t keeping up.

  • Lower household costs: tackling rising prices on essentials like food, utilities, and transportation.
  • Good-paying jobs: attracting new industries, supporting small businesses, and expanding job training.
  • Fair wages: ensuring work pays enough to build stability, not just survive paycheck to paycheck.
  • Support for workers: tools and protections that help families stay afloat during tough times.
  • Local economic growth: investing in communities so money stays and circulates here in GA-12.

Healthcare You Can Count On

Every family in GA-12 deserves access to care that is affordable, dependable, and close to home.

Healthcare shouldn’t depend on your ZIP code, your income, or whether you can afford to miss work.

  • Expand access to care: support coverage options that keep more Georgians insured and protected.
  • Lower out-of-pocket costs: reduce the financial strain of care.
  • Protect rural communities: strengthen local clinics, emergency services, and specialist access.
  • Mental health support: expand counseling and crisis services.
  • Quality care for seniors & families: ensure aging Georgians and caregivers aren’t left behind.

Veterans Deserve Real Support

As a veteran, Ceretta understands service — and the challenges veterans face when returning home.

Too many veterans struggle with delays and limited resources.

  • Stronger transition support: jobs, training, and hiring incentives.
  • Cutting red tape: easier access to benefits and services.
  • Mental health & support: expand counseling and community programs.
  • Support for families: resources for spouses and caregivers.
  • Respect and accountability: programs that deliver results.

Strong Schools, Fair Funding

Every child in GA-12 deserves a great public school.

  • Fair funding: protect schools in rural & low-income communities.
  • Support educators: better pay and manageable class sizes.
  • Safe schools: updated facilities and materials.
  • Career pathways: expand technical and dual-enrollment options.
  • Student support: wraparound services for learning success.

Protecting Communities

Rural and urban Georgia both deserve safety, stability, and opportunity.

Rural areas are squeezed by rising costs while cities are increasingly unaffordable due to prices and underinvestment.

  • Local economic security: create good-paying jobs that build stable communities.
  • Support rural farmers and communities: strengthen local businesses and agriculture.
  • Reduce gun violence: address the proliferation of guns with common-sense safety.
  • Safer streets and schools: better mental health and youth support services.
  • Access to essentials: ensure healthcare, groceries, and crisis response are close to home.
  • Infrastructure for all: invest in housing, broadband, and transportation everywhere.

Housing, Job Growth & Stability

A fair shot at homeownership and good jobs should be within reach.

  • Homeownership: real paths for first-time buyers.
  • Renters’ rights: keep people housed, not displaced.
  • Affordable options: preserve and build units people can afford.
  • Jobs + housing: pair growth with places workers can live.
  • Community stability: prevent price-out displacement.
Share your housing challenge

Defending Democracy & Our Rights

Every person’s voice, rights, and dignity must be protected.

  • Protect the Constitution: block government overreach.
  • Defend rights: civil, human, and reproductive rights.
  • Support workers: protect freedom to organize.
  • Stop abuses: maintain vital protections.
  • Free & fair elections: expand access and protect voters.
Your vote is your power

Your Voice Matters

GA-12 deserves leadership that listens and delivers.

  • Representation that starts with you: real lives > insiders.
  • Open communication: town halls + transparency.
  • Community-driven priorities: rural + urban needs.
  • Respect for every story: elevate unheard voices.
  • Power with the people: where democracy belongs.
